Activity of the Week: DIY Rainbow Rice Sensory Bin

What You’ll Need:

  • Uncooked white rice
  • Food coloring
  • Resealable plastic bags
  • Vinegar or rubbing alcohol (just a tablespoon)
  • A large plastic bin or tray
  • Scoops, small containers, or toys for added fun

How to Make It:

  1. Divide the rice into resealable bags (one for each color you want to create).
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring and a tablespoon of vinegar to each bag.
  3. Seal the bag and shake it until the rice is fully colored. Let it dry on a flat surface (use parchment paper for easy cleanup).
  4. Once dry, mix all the colors together in the sensory bin and let your toddler explore! Add scoops, small toys, or even alphabet letters for added engagement.
